by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 17 May 2020 He killed his ex-wife and the man with whom the woman was in company in a restaurant and then committed suicide. The double homicide and the subsequent suicide happened around 2.00 pm in Giubiasco, in the Canton of Ticino, in the Bellinzona area (Switzerland).

A 64-year-old man, a former cantonal police officer domiciled in the Locarno area and retired for several months, opened the fire. In the public place the woman was a waitress.

The former cantonal agent entered the Osteria degli Amici just before closing and pointed his firearm at a 60-year-old Swiss citizen, domiciled in the Bellinzonese area and longtime employee of the nearby Cantina Sociale di Giubiasco. At that time he was with the ex-wife of the 64 year old, a 47 year old Swiss citizen, also domiciled in the Bellinzonese but of Hungarian origin. The woman was separating from the man. A passionate crime fueled by jealousy is therefore presumed. The investigation will determine it. Public Prosecutor Roberto Ruggeri coordinates the investigations.

The ex-cantonal policeman, a sharpshooter of special forces, fired some gunshots at the two, killing them due to the serious injuries sustained. The man then turned the gun on himself and shot himself. The former agent passed away shortly thereafter. The attempt to revive him by the health workers of the Green Cross of Bellinzona quickly arrived on the spot is useless.
