The Ministry of Social Policies of the Community of Madrid has requested a report from the management of the Residence of Las Camelias, in Móstoles, after several relatives denounced the celebration of a party, with the management and several employees, in the facilities of the center.

As reported on Sunday by the newspaper 'El País', the party was organized by the president and general director of the group of residences for the elderly, the Golden Staff, Miguel Jiménez, who had just recovered from a convalescence by COVID-19 and before returning Catalonia wanted to say goodbye to the workers at its center in Móstoles.

In the images that some of the participants of the party themselves uploaded to their social networks, it can be seen how, after a lunch in which the safety distances between diners were not respected , they danced and hugged on the ground floor of the residence, without protection measures.

When some relatives of the residents discovered the photos on Facebook this week, they complained to the management, since they consider this celebration "disrespectful", when none have been able to see their elders in person since March 9 and many are mourning the recent loss of his relative.

According to the information provided by the workers to the families, unofficially, they had died in this residence due to possible COVID-19 "about 80 of the 226 residents who were at the beginning of the pandemic."

The Mayor of Móstoles, Noelia Posse (PSOE), also expressed her outrage on her social networks, in which she describes what happened as "regrettable": "How can you celebrate anything with so many losses of people and a management in doubt brought before justice? Unfortunately, "he stresses.

Sources of the Ministry of Social Policies have indicated to Efe that the General Directorate for the Elderly has already contacted the address of the residence hall to request a "report" of what happened, to "study" if the instructions have been breached and what penalty is there for it.

For its part, the management of the Bastón de Oro group defends in a letter sent to the newspaper El País that the celebration in Las Camelias was "a token of appreciation to all the staff for their work during the health crisis" and that "it was carried out when the situation of the elderly could be solved and stabilized.
