“A resident of a regional center with a criminal past, who demanded that representatives of the Russian Guard be burned, was convicted of public calls for extremist activity (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code of Russia),” RIA Novosti quoted the press release as saying.

According to the investigation, in July 2019, a man called on the Internet for the murder of Rosguard employees.

At the same time, a psychological and linguistic examination confirmed that the messages contained an incitement to violent acts motivated by hatred and hostility against persons belonging to a particular social group.

The accused was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of two years probation with a trial period of three years. After the convict’s appeal, the trial period was reduced by one year.

Previously, a man had already been prosecuted for violent acts against a minor, theft and intentional harm to health.

In late February, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed outrage at the calls to kill the children of employees of the Russian Guard.

In September 2019, the Presnensky court of Moscow found the blogger Vladislav Sinitsa guilty of extremism because of a post that experts regarded as a call to violence against children by law enforcement officials. He was sentenced to five years in a penal colony.
