If walking in public gardens or at the water's edge is again authorized in Nantes, the prefect of Loire-Atlantique is worried about the groups of people observed in recent days along the Erdre and in the city center at the favor of good weather. "It was noted that dozens of people gathered on the banks of the Erdre, on the Cours Saint-André, Saint-Pierre and Sully, and on different sites in the city of Nantes, without respecting the safety distances and health recommendations, ”he laments.

“It has also been established that the consumption of alcohol on the public highway was at the origin of massive groupings of individuals in a close area contrary to the barrier measures and to the social distancing envisaged within the framework of the prevention against Covid -19, "he adds.

On the banks, the quays, the courtyards…

To remedy the situation, a prefectoral decree banning the consumption of alcohol, picnics and static groupings of people was adopted. The ban is valid in the afternoon and evening, every day, until July 10 inclusive. It concerns the banks of the Erdre from the Morand bridge to the Jonelière bridge, the quays of Versailles, Barbusse and Ceineray, the Saint-Pierre, Saint-André and Sully courtyards, the Square du Marquis-de-Saffré.

A little further from the Erdre, the Daviais square, the Quai de Turenne, the Neptune square and the Merceur square are also concerned. Surprisingly, the banks of the island of Nantes, popular with students, are, for the moment, excluded from the ban.
