17 May 2020In what was to be the big night of the Eurovision Song Contest, canceled for the first time in its 65 years of history, Europe has musically gathered in a new form, in the special entitled "Europe Shine A Light" ( "Europe turns on a light"), with some performances of competitors previously recorded.

Obviously there was no cry of "Let The Show Begin!", No televoting, much less no crystal microphone for the winner.

The special was not broadcast from Rotterdam, the city originally chosen to host Eurovision 2020, but from a studio in another Dutch city, Hilversum, which hosted the festival back in 1958, when Domenico Modugno won with the famous "Volare ".

To honor Flying and representing Italy was Diodato who also performed with his "Fai Rumore" from the deserted Arena of Verona.

Other performances of the evening: the Swedish Mans Zelmerlow, who sang his triumphant "Heroes" as a tribute to health professionals around the world; and the Israeli Gali Atari, who performed the "Halellujah" winner in 1979 with Betty Missiego.
