His body was found early Saturday afternoon, almost 24 hours after his fall. A 55-year-old man died, buried under several hundred tonnes of wheat, in a grain silo at a flour mill in Bassoues, reports Le Journal du Gers .

The drama occurred while the 50-year-old was working inside a silo 20 meters high, in this town located 35 km southwest of Auch. Thirty firefighters went to the site, including a team from the Dangerous Reconnaissance and Response Group (Grimp) who came from Pau by helicopter.

A gendarmerie investigation was opened to try to find out the exact causes of the accident.
