On Saturday, Hamas appreciated the call of United Nations officials to secure the safe release of Palestinian children detained in its prisons during the Corona pandemic crisis.

"We call on human rights and humanitarian institutions and international health organizations to exert pressure on the Zionist occupation to release the prisoners in the occupation prisons," said the movement's spokesman, Abdul Latif Al-Qanoua.

And Al-Qanu 'blamed the "Zionist occupation for the prisoners' life and safety."

The United Nations has called on Israel to "secure the safe release of children detained in its prisons," expressing grave concern over the continued detention during the Corona crisis.

The UN called on Israel to suspend the entry of any new child into detention centers.

Stephen Dujarric, a spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, noted that several UN officials issued a joint statement calling for the release of children arrested by Israel.

These officials are: Jimmy McGoldrick, Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, UNICEF Geneva Special Representative in Geneva, Bhutan, and the head of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, James Henan.

In its prisons, Israel arrests about 5,000 Palestinians, including 43 women, 180 children, and 700 patients.
