May 16, 2020 More than four and a half million people are infected with coronavirus worldwide. This was announced by Johns Hopkins University, speaking of 4,542,752 infections worldwide. Instead, 307,696 people have lost their lives in the world due to complications related to Covid-19. The United States is the hardest hit, with 1,443,188 infected and 87,559 dead.

Brazil's health minister, Nelson Teich, oncologist, resigns after just a month in office, for the record number of coronavirus cases. Last day alone, 15,303 new infections and 824 deaths were confirmed in Brazil. Teich refused to give in to pressure from President Jair Bolsonaro to expand the use of chloroquine as a therapy for Covid-19. Teich's predecessor, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, also rejected the extensive use of chloroquine.
