Dubai Municipality decided to close 240 food establishments, due to violations related to non-compliance with the precautionary measures set by the health authorities in the state to confront the spread of the new "Kurna" virus as a benefit - 19, confirming the implementation of daily inspection campaigns to ensure that all institutions adhere to the controls set by the municipality.

The municipality’s food inspection director, Sultan Al-Taher, confirmed to “Emirates Today,” that the municipality’s inspectors deal with violations with strict procedures, without compromise.

He added that since April 27, the municipality implemented 3,307 inspection visits, which showed that 93% of them adhere to specific procedures and controls, and 7% of them violated due to non-compliance with precautionary standards, noting that the total food establishments in Dubai is about 18 thousand establishments.

Al-Taher added that «the decisions to close were due to the lack of commitment to the precautionary measures of the Corona virus, which are related to wearing masks, crowding, non-spacing for more than two meters, non-compliance with tables to sit at 30% of the institution’s area, and taking into account the spacing of tables more than four square meters between Each table and the other, and not to disinfect and sterilize food establishments by companies approved by the municipality.

He continued: «During the inspection visits, the municipality inspectors check the daily follow-up records of workers’ health, record sterilization and disinfection operations, in addition to ensuring that food safety requirements are applied to food during receipt, preparation, storage, display at healthy temperatures, and the application of hygiene and sterilization procedures, to prevent non-occurrence Reciprocal pollution and pest control.

Al-Taher pointed out that the municipality is auditing all food establishments in the emirate with different activities, such as restaurants, cafeterias, cafes that provide food, groceries, supermarkets, and bakeries. It also inspects and monitors delivery cars, to ensure they are sterilized, maintain food safety procedures after each order, and change delivery workers to the muzzle and gloves after each order.

Sterilization of 1338 farms and estate in 16 districts in Dubai

Dubai Municipality conducted an extensive sterilization campaign, which included 1,338 farms and manor in 16 Dubai districts, and sensitized 5776 workers.
