His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the annual results of the work of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiatives Foundation for the year 2019, the largest regional institution of its kind in the field of humanitarian, relief and community work, as the total amount of its spending from Through all its institutions and initiatives, 1.3 billion dirhams, benefiting 71 million people in 108 countries around the world.
This came during the organization’s remote celebration, as the first “virtual” event of its kind.

His Highness added: “We have more than 120,000 volunteers who are helping us ... and hundreds of employees in our initiatives, explaining His Highness: We have launched more than 30 charitable and humanitarian organizations ... and we are ready to launch more.”
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum discussed with the Foundation’s team at the meeting of the Board of Trustees the implications of the emerging crisis of the Corona virus (COFED-19).
His Highness affirmed: "This crisis ... and all crises will go away ... and nothing will remain except for charity." His Highness pointed out that "the Corona virus epidemic represents a challenge to humanity ... His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid reviewed the achievements of the Foundation in the past year through its initiatives and main institutions that implement dozens of programs, projects and campaigns, within five main axes: humanitarian and relief assistance, health care and disease control, the dissemination of education and knowledge, innovation of the future and leadership, and empowerment of societies .
He also reviewed the future plans and initiatives and the approved mechanisms to ensure the progress of work in accordance with the specific plans to ensure the safety of workers and volunteers, and helps to reach initiatives and programs for those who are entitled to them without delay, noting the importance of strengthening the axis of health care and disease control by working to rehabilitate local and Arab medical cadres, and support research and experience Scientific research in the field of viral diseases, developing forward-looking strategies for investigating epidemics and ways to address them, and developing effective partnerships with regional and international medical and research institutions in this field.
The celebration organized by the Foundation to celebrate the business report for the past year, is the first of its kind open to the public, within the virtual space, where the Foundation invited people to attend, and see the most important achievements of the Foundation, which touched the lives of millions of people around the world.

The number of employees of the Foundation, including officials, administrators, technicians and field crews, reached 574 employees, while the number of volunteers in the humanitarian and development projects and programs reached 124 thousand and 539 people in the beneficiary countries.
The value of humanitarian and relief assistance in the year 2019 amounted to about 262 million dirhams, of which 17 million people benefited, including 9 million people who benefited from the initiatives and projects of the Emirates Watering Foundation by providing remote and less fortunate communities with clean and drinking water, by digging dozens of wells and creating the structure Necessary infrastructure for water purification plants and plants in many countries of the world.
2.6 million people have benefited from the initiatives and projects of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Action by investing in young people by supporting educational institutions in societies that suffer from scarcity of resources and capabilities.
The members of the International City for Humanitarian Services, from international organizations and bodies, have managed 1070 humanitarian and relief aid shipments in 2019 to many countries in need with a value of 246 million dirhams.
The city also supported the distribution of more than one thousand tons of aid and relief materials in 13 shipments, at a value of 18 million dirhams.
The Emirates Food Bank collected 13,488 tons of food distributed to the needy in the Emirates.
The Mohammed bin Rashid International Endowment and Gift Consultation Center launched a number of innovative and specialized endowment banks, such as the Youth Bank, to support them in study and work, the Women and Children Bank, to provide health and social support, and the People of Determination Bank, to enable them to qualify them, and the Science Bank, to serve research in medicine, science, and engineering.
The projects benefited about 4,800 people inside the UAE, Egypt, Tanzania and Thailand.
The total spending on initiatives, programs and projects within the axis of health care and disease control under the umbrella of the World Foundation reached 118 million dirhams, benefiting 7.5 million people around the world.
The Foundation adopted, for the first time, the Humanitarian Year Project, by supporting the construction and equipping of Professor Magdy Yacoub Hospital for Charitable Heart Diseases in Egypt, which will receive heart patients from the poor and needy from different parts of the Arab world for free.
The donation was made through the largest campaign of its kind live on during the third session of the Hope Makers initiative, the value of donations amounted to 44 million dirhams, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum doubled the amount, to 88 million dirhams.
The Education and Knowledge Diffusion theme is at the forefront of the work of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiatives Foundation, through numerous initiatives, projects and programs with a wide impact, within a long-term vision that seeks to provide world-class education to millions of children and youth.
The total amount of spending during the year 2019 on initiatives and programs of this axis amounted to 335 million dirhams, benefiting 45 million people around the world.
The Dubai Cares Foundation programs benefited more than 20 million people in 59 countries, and the Foundation invested more than 21 million dirhams to support research in improving the quality of education in schools.
The "Arab Reading Challenge", the largest knowledge initiative of its kind in the Arab world to instill a reading culture among young people in its fifth session for the 2019-2020 academic year, witnessed record participation through 21 million students from 96 thousand schools in 52 Arab and foreign countries, under the supervision of more than 120 One thousand male and female teachers, and the total number of Arab reading challenge awards in the last session exceeded 11 million dirhams.
The “School” platform registered more than 62 million visits and 2.4 million subscribers, to follow its distinguished content of video tutorials for science and mathematics subjects, which are available free to millions of students, teachers and parents.
During the year 2019, construction work for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library, the largest of its kind in the region, costing one billion dirhams, was completed.
Work has started on preparing the library's knowledge and cultural content, as it is expected to include more than 1.5 million books, paper, digital and audio, and will host more than 100 cultural and knowledge events annually, and receives more than 40 million visitors annually from the region and the world.
Innovating the future and leadership
The Axis of Future Innovation and Entrepreneurship extracted a significant portion of the volume of investments of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiatives Foundation, as spending on various initiatives and projects under this axis reached 386 million dirhams, benefiting 744 thousand people worldwide, including 3,871 people, from Emirati business leaders who benefited from the services of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, and 1470 Emirati companies received incentives and facilities from the Foundation worth more than 196 million dirhams. 6862 people have also benefited from training services and diploma programs offered by the Dubai Entrepreneur Academy. The Foundation’s Mohammed bin Rashid Fund for Project Support funded the establishment of 75 projects.
In an effort to address the water scarcity problem facing poor and afflicted communities around the world, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Water Prize was launched in its second session in April 2019 through its three categories, and 10 winners were chosen from eight countries representing companies, universities and individual community initiatives. The value of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Water Prize in 2019 was about 2.3 million dirhams.
With the proclamation of 2019 as the Year of Tolerance in the Emirates, the International Institute for Tolerance organized the second session of the World Tolerance Summit, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award was launched to celebrate the global achievements in establishing the values of tolerance, coexistence and integration among the cultures of peoples, where the award honored in its first session three personalities Influential, with a total value of three million dirhams.
