May 15, 2020 President Donald Trump officially presents, during a ceremony in the Oval Office, the new flag of the US Space Forces, the sixth branch of the US military that he established last December.

The logo looks incredibly similar to that of the historic TV series 'Star Trek' and social media has gone wild.

"Space will be the future in terms of defense, offense and many other things," commented Trump during the ceremony. "And from what I hear, based on the reports, we are already leaders in Space. This (event) is only to launch the flag but we have been working for some time." The flag of the American Space Forces, which are part of the Air Force, is dark blue, with the delta similar to the logo of the Enterprise, the Star Trek spaceship. The three big stars, explain from the White House, symbolize the 3 missions of the space forces: organization, training and equipment.

It is the first new American military flag in 72 years. The task of the space forces, made up of around 16,000 men, will be to protect American interests in orbit like satellites and "maintain US dominance" besieged by competitors such as Russia and China. During the presentation, Trump also hinted at a possible new military asset which he called "a supersonic missile", "17 times faster than those available today".
