Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussed developments in the situation in Libya. For her part, the forces of the reconciliation government confirmed on Friday their intention to target rebel sites throughout the country. 

A statement issued by the Communication Department of the Turkish presidency stated that Stoltenberg confirmed that NATO maintains its balanced position towards Libya, and that it is ready at the same time to assist this country in the matter of building defense and security institutions, at the request of (Libyan) Prime Minister Faiz al-Sarraj.

Stoltenberg pointed out that NATO assistance to Libya will be provided taking into account the political situation and security conditions in the country, and in close coordination with the United Nations and the European Union.

He again called on the parties concerned to adhere to the United Nations' arms embargo on Libya, stressing NATO's intention to continue its full support for political solution initiatives (in Libya) at the international level.

Earlier, the foreign ministers of Germany, Italy, France and European Union countries expressed concern about the situation in Libya. 

"We particularly condemn the recent attacks on the center and hospital of Tripoli, and the increasing number of civilian casualties," said German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. 

He added that instead of implementing the armistice, the parties always fell into the wrong belief that winning the conflict militarily. 

Mas said this would lead to further violations of the arms embargo by "international backers." 

Fixed and mobile targets
in military matters, a spokesman for the al-Wefaq government forces pledged to strike any fixed or mobile target that might constitute a danger.

Colonel Mohamed Kanounou said that the targeting will take place throughout the Libyan territories without exception, and that there is no red line, stressing that Libya will be a cemetery for those who choose to rebel against it and threaten its security and safety, as he put it.

In recent weeks, Al-Wefaq forces managed to destroy a number of Haftar military sites, equipment, and warplanes, while tightening their blockade of the Al-Wataya strategic base. 

Al-Wefaq forces are fighting battles against Haftar's forces on three fronts, namely, the capital, Tripoli, Al-Wattia, and Boukrain

According to information gathered by the Anatolia Agency, the "Peace Storm" operation launched by the reconciliation forces managed to neutralize a large number of Haftar forces, and to destroy four fighters, a helicopter, two marching planes, and a large number of tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, and heavy weapons.

The government forces issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming that the Air Force continues to conduct round-the-clock reconnaissance flights in the skies of Al-Wattia base and monitors all roads leading to the base, and will target any attempts to infiltrate or supply or any mechanism that attempts to go to it.
