The Abu Dhabi Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety has instructed the major outlets in Abu Dhabi - in coordination with its strategic partners from government agencies - to allocate display areas for local agricultural products, under the directions of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority.
His Highness’s decision is an affirmation of the importance of the local product in meeting the market needs and enhancing its competitiveness in the emirate and state markets, as part of its efforts to raise the level of self-sufficiency of fresh local food products and the exploitation of local natural resources on scientific and economic bases capable of competition and sustainability.
The authority confirmed that a large group of outlets in Abu Dhabi started allocating places for displaying local products, as dozens of markets adorned the words of pride in national production, the slogans of the local product, and the display of hundreds of tons of vegetables, fruits, dates, meat, fish, dairy and their derivatives, table eggs and honey produced by the Emirate's farms.
The Director General of the authority, Saeed Al-Bahri Salem Al-Amri, said that His Highness’s directives confirm the great attention that our wise leadership attaches to promoting agricultural development and work to its sustainability, in order to consolidate the food security system, and affirming the importance of local production in establishing a diversified and sustainable national economy based on knowledge, innovation and technology, Through achieving comprehensive development in all sectors, including the agricultural sector, both plant and animal, as one of the most important pillars of food security and ways to achieve social well-being, by ensuring the access of fresh and high-quality local food products to society in the All times and conditions and at the same time ensure the highest levels of food safety.
