The 70-year-old has stated during the trial and in interrogation that he can neither admit nor deny the deed because he does not have clear memories of what happened that night towards Christmas Eve due to alcohol intoxication. However, he remembers when the police knocked on the door in the afternoon.
Västmanland's district court now condemns the man for murder, although he himself states that he did not intend to kill her. The investigation reveals, among other things, that the 70-year-old battered the woman so badly that she received about twenty rib fractures.
The man has previously been convicted of abusing his wife and in diaries that police found in the home, she describes that she has been scared of her husband for many years. He is now sentenced to 16 years in prison.
