The Prime Minister of the Yemeni government, Mueen Abdul-Malik, has vowed to take deterrent measures against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council in case he insists on rejecting international calls to retract the declaration of self-management and the ongoing escalation.

This comes at a time when the Yemeni army continues its advance for the third day in a row towards the city of Zanzibar, the administrative center of Abyan Governorate in southern Yemen, and its control over the positions of the forces of the Transitional Council.

The Yemeni Prime Minister confirmed in a statement yesterday evening Wednesday that the national army will do everything necessary to preserve the state and its institutions and protect the interests of citizens.

Abdel Malik indicated that the only key to peace in his country is to end the insurgency of armed militias under any cover. He cautioned against diminishing the role of state institutions or stripping their powers under any circumstances, stressing that they would deal firmly and without compromise.

The Yemeni official said: The announcement by the Transitional Council of what he called "the self-administration of the south" a coup move that undermined the Riyadh agreement and the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to implement it.

The Prime Minister of Yemen warned of the disaster facing the city of Aden due to the spread of the Corona epidemic, with the danger of disrupting the work of state institutions and looting public resources and transferring them to special accounts.

For his part, Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, the head of what is known as the National Assembly of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council, announced the launch of what he called the southern military resistance, starting from Thursday in the Hadramawt Valley and in the governorates of Shabwa and Abyan and wherever there are those who described them as terrorist Brothers.

In preparation for the storming of Zanzibar
at the field level, Colonel Muhammad Al-Awban, commander of the Special Forces of Abyan Governorate, said that in the coming hours, the city of Abyan Governorate, the administrative center of Abyan Governorate, will be stormed. Al-Awban asserted that his forces had taken control of new areas in Abyan, and had looted military vehicles from the Southern Transitional Council.

Yemeni military sources said that government forces opened a new front towards Zanzibar, and took control of sites in it.

The sources stated that the government forces implemented a tactical withdrawal plan from the Sheikh Salem area, which prompted the transitional forces to try to advance towards Shakra, and they fell into an ambush set by the government forces for them, after the confrontations between the two sides witnessed desertion operations during Tuesday and the first dawn hours of Wednesday.

The sources confirmed that battalions of the Republican Guard forces loyal to the UAE led by Tariq Afash, the son of the late President Ali Abd Saleh, had fought alongside the Transitional Forces against the government forces.

The confrontations between the two sides continue for three days, during which government forces seek to regain control of areas, including the city of Aden, which has been controlled by the forces of the Transitional Council since last August, when it carried out a military rebellion against the legitimate government with Emirati support.
