The European Commission recently called on Member States to extend the temporary ban on unnecessary travel.

"The situation is still fragile in Europe and the world," the Commission wrote.

The Swedish government is now extending the entry ban. It is valid until June 15. The first Swedish entry ban was introduced on March 17 and then extended once.

"This is an exceptional measure and we hope that the ban will be short-lived," said Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S).
