At Region Skåne's press conference on Wednesday, Eva Melander, region of Skåne's infection prevention physician, announced that the situation on the municipalities' elderly homes is worrying.

- This is a sensitive environment with fragile and susceptible patients. About 10 percent of our special accommodations are affected and we see on average six to eight new cases per day, she says.

As of Thursday, the region of Skåne can offer sampling for all staff in care and care who have symptoms. There are five sampling locations in Skåne, of which Helsingborg is one.

Tests in Helsingborg

The tests are done in a tent next to the White House in the hospital area, where also healthcare workers with symptoms are tested.

"The aim is to get as many staff as possible back to our elderly homes, LSS housing and home service," says Anna-Karin Albin, Head of Operations at Helsingborg Laser.

- The recommendation is that you stay home if you have respiratory symptoms and fever and preferably two more days after the symptoms disappear. It's quite a long time. If we can find out that it is not about covid-19, then the employee can instead return when it feels well enough.

Six to eight new cases per day

Another purpose is to reduce the spread of the spread on elderly homes in Skåne, said infection protection physician Eva Melander earlier this week.

- We must do everything we can to prevent it.
