Gendarmes carry out checks near Nantes - JEAN-SEBASTIEN EVRARD / AFP

A 30-year-old man, checked Wednesday afternoon on the A43 motorway near Verpillière in Isère, gave the identity of his brother. The driver had just been arrested by a motorcycle brigade having spotted him telephoning while driving with his earphones, reports Le Progrès . Without a driving license to present, or any other document that can justify his identity, the individual then drops his name.

But after checking, the gendarmes understand that the driver lied, trying to pretend to be his brother. They also discover that the thirty-something, originally from Meyzieu, has had his driver's license withdrawn.

He was therefore summoned on September 3 before the Vienna court for my following reasons: driving without a license and identity theft.
