There was a time, not too far away, when Ana García Obregón was omnipresent on television. At the time of Ana and the 7, in addition, she was omnipotent: she swept the share percentages , she was one of the true queens of hearts, her singleness was listed on the IBEX 35 and everything she played was an instant success. That streak was cut short at one point and Ana concentrated most of her efforts on caring for her son when he was diagnosed with cancer. It is what any other mother would have done, and it shows that, in the face of difficulty, love and care take precedence over work. Ana packed her bags and went to New York not to be separated for a minute from her son's sidewhen your treatment started. Then to New Jersey. Then to Navarra, Barcelona, Madrid ... He accompanied him to the end.
However, we know that Ana Obregón will soon resurface. After some difficult years - "since this started, I decided to totally separate myself and dedicate myself to being there, which is what I feel like a mother," she told this same newspaper last February -, at some point she will have to fly again, like Ave Fénix, that woman who dominated entertainment - light or frivolous, the preferred adjective, but always in a good tone - in Spain for practically two decades.
In the same interview he joked asking himself: "How could they not be tired of seeing me?". We never really got tired, just everyone needed a break, she was the first. He always referred to his degree in biology as a detail that, although many people took it as a joke, told us something important: that everything he had he had earned with effort -although he later practiced in another profession-, and from the Just as you stepped back, you can also step back. It will be when she can and wants, when she feels strong, but it will be, because it is in her character.
Ana Obregón's last major presence on television was last fall, when she participated as a contestant in the fourth edition of Masterchef Celebrity. She was eliminated in the first program and then returned to competition after winning the playoff; He did not reach the final but he stayed close, and in one of those last programs was when the meeting with Antonia Dell'atte -ex contestant from the previous edition- took place, in which some rough edges accumulated over decades were smoothed out. His embrace in front of the cameras is the history of contemporary Spain.
The Italian model had been a partner of Alessandro Lequio, in the early 90s, and it was the "count" who abandoned her to join Ana Obregón. Her son Álex was the fruit of that love and that passion, and although the couple broke up, the common ties and sentimental wounds remained, which have already healed and will now be able to heal. In the late 1990s, Ana maintained a relationship with footballer Davor Suker, then a striker for Real Madrid. He was associated with more men, sometimes arbitrarily. In recent years, he had no partner, however: when he gave an interview, he took the opportunity to show his disappointment -without a boyfriend and without a job-, as a way of explaining that, if that happened, it was not only due to bad luck or lack of attractiveness , but of his own free will, since his concern was in his son.
In the 80s, fresh out of the university -he studied in Madrid, at the Complutense-, he tried to make his way in the cinema and had some minor roles in minor films, as well as a small role -that was much commented on in the 90s- in the series The Team A. But it was on television that he began to find his place. The very old-timers will remember their participation in Como Pedro por su casa, the Pedro Ruiz picantón humor program broadcast on TVE in 1985 -where the phrase "Qué buena que eres, Carolina" became popular; That Carolina was not Ana Obregón, but she could have been-, and in the 90s she began to participate and produce series, in parallel to her rise in magazines of the heart, with her exclusives, her posed on the beach to celebrate the beginning of summer and their love affairs.
He was a companion to Ramón García in the presentation of Qué apostamos, the contest with the best audience data on TVE after the imperial era of One, Two, Three and The fair price - a successful transversal phenomenon at the time when the private televisions-, and became the host in several broadcasts of the chimes of New Year's Eve. In 2002 he led and produced the sitcom Ana y los 7, and that was the highlight of his progress on television, which had had previous positive roles in Hostal Royal Manzanares or At eleven at home.
Her later adventures were not as successful, and she started a slight downgrading in which she was no longer the protagonist of her own role, but the guest star in others: magazine covers, visits to pink television sets or cameos in series and movies, from Torrente 4 to Paquita Salas. His participation in Masterchef, which he accepted as a way to encourage himself and escape from his son's health problems, did not happen at the best time and he maintained tension with his peers. After his elimination in the first program, Marta Torné dismissed him with a "Greetings to Spielberg", ironically referring to that episode that Obregón has always told, when he cooked a paella for Steven Spielberg in the 90s.
But then Ana returned, when Torné was already eliminated, and she improved her image and dignified her role, although her dishes were not appetizing either. But this is something that has always happened with Ana Obregón: it goes well or badly, whether it is up or down, it always comes back. Or fight to return. So it will come back.
