An investigation into manslaughter was opened in Papeete after the death of an 87-year-old woman, probably killed by a pack of five dogs, on Tuesday in Tahiti (French Polynesia), we learned from a judicial source, confirming information from Polynesia the 1st.

Like every morning, the octogenarian walked around a stadium in Pirae, a town near Papeete. She was attacked by several hounds, including pit bulls, according to witnesses who played tennis in the same sports complex.

"She was lying down with lots of dogs around her, I thought she was feeling unwell, but when I got close, I chased the dogs with my racket, and I saw that the lady was like a scalp, and that she was bitten very deeply on both arms, two legs, neck and face, "Ramon Teihotua, the first witness to the facts, told AFP. According to him, there were "four pit bulls and a bull terrier" and the municipal police had to intervene to remove them.

According to the first elements of the investigation, these are not stray dogs, numerous in Tahiti. Two young men, alleged owners of the animals, were placed in police custody.
