Doctors of medical institutions of the Federal Biomedical Agency of Russia, reprofiled to receive patients with coronavirus infection, revealed an atypical course of the disease in two patients. This was announced on Thursday by the press service of the agency.

During treatment, both patients with confirmed COVID-19 showed negative dynamics in the form of a symptom of an “acute abdomen” and an increase in body temperature, which are an indication for emergency surgery. Doctors performed diagnostic laparoscopy and found fluid in the abdominal cavity. Other data indicating acute surgical pathology were absent in both patients, noted in FMBA.

“Based on the results of examinations of two patients, a new version of COVID-19 can be suggested, proceeding with the clinical picture of serous peritonitis,” the agency’s website said.

According to experts, inflammation of the peritoneum with COVID-19 may be a consequence of the systemic response of the body to a viral infection.

In addition, the chief nephrologist of the Russian Ministry of Health, Professor Evgeny Shilov, said that approximately 20-30% of patients hospitalized with coronavirus infection develop renal failure and there is a need for dialysis. His words are given on the website of the ministry.

Moreover, according to Shilov, patients with chronic kidney diseases are at risk: they are more susceptible to infection with coronavirus, and with the development of the disease, the probability of death is higher. Re-profiling hospitals to help patients with COVID-19, in turn, can disrupt the availability of dialysis for people with chronic kidney disease, the doctor said.

Earlier, Georgy Sapronov, chief freelance infectious disease specialist at the Russian President’s Administrative Department, head of the Center for Infectious Diseases of the Central Clinical Hospital, said that the disease caused by coronavirus can very quickly go from mild to severe. According to him, in the morning the patient may feel more or less normal, but there is a chance that in the evening he will be in intensive care.

Russian doctors who work with patients with coronavirus will receive monthly allowances, this is stated in the corresponding document on the Cabinet’s website.

It is specified that ambulance doctors will additionally receive 50 thousand rubles a month, and doctors in hospitals - 80 thousand rubles each. Middle and junior medical staff, as well as ambulance drivers will receive from 25 to 50 thousand rubles a month.

A total of 4.8 billion rubles will additionally be allocated from the reserve fund of the Russian government to subordinate medical institutions of the Presidential Administration, the FSB, Rosguard, FMBA, the Ministry of Defense and the FSIN.

On May 14, it became known that 617 employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), as well as 145 people among suspects, accused, and convicts, confirmed coronavirus in the laboratory. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press bureau of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

“208 employees of the penal correction system and 29 people from among the suspects, accused, and convicts recovered,” a quote from representatives of the department is quoted.

It is also noted that medical workers have increased the number of pokamer walks and examinations. “At the first appearance of a respiratory disease in suspects, accused and convicted persons, laboratory tests for coronavirus are mandatory,” the FSIN noted.

The fact that vaccination against coronavirus in Russia can go along the “military path”, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Kolesnikov told the Parliamentary newspaper. In his opinion, the vaccine will be used already this fall or on the eve of winter, but it is possible that not all people will be vaccinated, but only those who work in the foci of the spread of infection, as well as people at risk.

The specialist recalled that this way of promoting the vaccine is unconventional, as a rule, it is chosen in extremely difficult situations.

The academician noted that if the rate of infection and the death toll decreases, then the vaccine will be used in the traditional way, but not earlier than the end of the year, since it takes time to choose a more competitive drug from hundreds of developments from different countries.

Kolesnikov stressed that launching the vaccine into production takes a long time. According to his calculations, Russians will need eight to ten million doses each year. At the same time, to obtain population immunity, 70 million vaccinations will be required.

On the eve of the Ministry of Health announced plans to conduct clinical trials of the vaccine in June. Minister Mikhail Murashkin expressed the hope that drugs may appear in late July.

According to the latest data, 9974 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Russia per day. Thus, the total number of infections reached 252,245.
