Two men, 24 and 26, who were very unfavorably known to the police, were arrested on Monday evening and Tuesday morning in Vénissieux, near Lyon. They are suspected of having set up a trap for the police. Or to have taken part in it.

On Monday, the police were called to help the firefighters, themselves called to put out a scooter fire near a college. Several individuals were waiting for them "in possession of stones and pyrotechnic devices", indicates the Sûreté du Rhône.

Mortar fire

"During this difficult intervention, the police were victims of stone throwing and several mortar shots," she continues. The two suspects arrested, with 20 and 59 criminal records respectively, denied the facts. They must be judged this Thursday in immediate appearance for contempt, aggravated voluntary violence and ambush.
