The parents of a 10-year-old girl who had defenestrated herself Sunday for fear of being beaten for having taken a yogurt from the family fridge were indicted on Wednesday, we learned from the Créteil prosecution.

Judicial information has been opened for “usual violence against a minor 15 years of age by ascendant resulting in total incapacity for work of more than eight days” concerning the girl and for “violence without ITT against a minor of 15 years by ascendant” for facts concerning also two of his siblings.

The father, 45 years old, and the mother, 33 years old, were left free under judicial supervision with obligation of care, prohibition to leave the national territory or to approach the victims, except within the framework of judicial follow-up. Their five children, aged 1 month to 14 years, have been placed with Social Welfare for Children and a children's judge must "be seized urgently" to rule on their fate.

"Father says it was difficult to manage during confinement"

Sunday, while she was at the family home in Rungis (Val-de-Marne), the little girl had jumped from the second floor of her building in order to escape the wrath of her father. She told investigators that she was afraid he would beat her because she had taken a yogurt without asking permission, said a judicial source, confirming information from the Parisian .

She was discovered in the apartment by the police in blood and quickly transported to the Necker hospital in Paris. The father was immediately placed in police custody, the mother the next day. "The father said that it was difficult to manage during confinement and that when his daughter behaved badly, he hit her and the mother slapped her," said a judicial source.

The purpose of this judicial information is in particular to date the blows received by the little girl and if objects were used in the abuse, as suggested by certain slender traces on her body. The father admitted in police custody that he had given his daughter "slaps".
