May 13, 2020 There were 1,894 coronavirus deaths in the U.S. in the past 24 hours. This is what emerges from the data of Johns Hopkins University. The total cases of contagion in the country are 1.36 million and total deaths 82.340.

Some models also used by the White House estimate 147,000 deaths in the United States by August 4 for coronavirus. This is 10,000 more deaths than the projection of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (Ihme) last weekend.

Kushner admits risk with reopening
Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and adviser, admits that reopening after lockdowns for the coronavirus carries risks. "There are risks in everything but the president has the burden of 30 million Americans who have lost their jobs for this historic effort to save lives," he said during an interview in the Time100 series.

White House virologist Anthony Fauci, the leading American infectious disease expert, has issued a harsh warning against the dangers associated with premature reopenings. During his hearing at the Senate Health Commission he explained that the number of deaths in the United States is "almost certainly higher than the more than 80,000 officially reported", the pandemic "is not under control" and therefore the States that will loosen too much restrictions to contain Covid-19 soon run the risk of causing new outbreaks and "truly serious consequences". Americans will experience "unnecessary suffering and death" if they leave too quickly, warned Fauci.

Ferrer: "Los Angeles County may remain closed until July"
Los Angeles County may remain closed until July. The hypothesis is hypothesized by the Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer, according to which only when there are tests available will the restrictions decided to contain the coronavirus, such as the stay-at-home, be completely removed. "Our hope is that by using the data we will be able to slowly remove the stakes in the next three months," highlights Ferrer. Coronavirus cases in Los Angeles County continue to rise even though the area's beaches will reopen under stringent rules from Wednesday.

California University, online classes in the fall
California State University, the largest American public university system in four years, cancels the lessons of the autumn semester in 23 of its campuses. The lessons will not be held in person but online, excluding some courses. "Our university hosts more than 500,000 people when it's open regularly," and that didn't work in coronavirus times, the university says.

Broadway remains closed, at least until September
Broadway theaters in New York will be closed for coronavirus at least until September 6. The Broadway League says so, pointing out that an exact date for the reopening has not yet been decided. This is a serious blow: every closing week equates to the loss of $ 30 million in revenue from ticket sales.
