Today the message came that foreign trips to all countries are not advised until 15 July. Many disappointed holidaymakers have surely had to note that the planned trip does not go away while wondering what is going on with the money for an already booked trip.

Consumer supervisor Maria Wiezell, who is also an expert in consumer law and consumer law, will work out what compensation you are entitled to.

Different rules for different travel types

- If you have booked a package tour, ie travel and accommodation or a trip including tourist services, you always have the right to get the money back within 14 days, says Wiezell and continues:

- If, on the other hand, you have a regular air ticket (if you have only booked an air ticket without, for example, accommodation or tourist services, please note), then you must check the conditions for that flight. It is not the same protection with regular travel, but then you look at the conditions for that particular ticket.

Maria Wiezell explains that even if you have booked a regular air ticket, you have the right, regardless of the conditions, to get money back for the ticket if the flight was canceled. But whether the plane lifts, the travel advice or not, then you must review the terms.

The airlines may have the right to deviate from agreements

Since the situation we are in now is unique, it is difficult to know what the practice will look like, says Maria Wiezell, but many airlines may claim "force majeur".

- Force majeur is an event that cannot be foreseen and then the companies can deviate from existing agreements. But regardless, the airlines have to pay the cost of the flight that did not go away. But the companies do not incur costs for consequential damages such as hotel rooms that you cannot use or the flat-rate compensation, which is usually between 250 and 450 euros, which are usually paid as general damages for failing to fulfill their agreement.

“Can be a big risk to travel despite the advice”

Traveling to a country where there is a recommendation can be a big risk, says Maria Wiezell.

- If you travel even though there is a recommendation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, your travel insurance does not apply. If you get sick then it can be extremely expensive if you, for example, need care or take an ambulance flight home.

Does home insurance not cover it?

-Home insurance covers if you fall ill on the spot, but not if you left even though UD has failed.
