The deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, head of the Parliamentary Crisis Cell to counter the Corona virus, Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, warned yesterday that the high incidence of Corona virus in Baghdad and Basra is "a very dangerous warning bell, threatening a human and health disaster in Iraq."

Al-Kaabi said, in a press statement distributed yesterday, that "the epidemiological situation of recorded infections with the Corona virus for today (the first of) on Tuesday, and its rise in Baghdad alone to 71 cases, constitutes a very serious alarm warning of a human and health catastrophe in Iraq, especially in the provinces of Baghdad and Basra. ».

He added that «the main and direct reason behind the high numbers of HIV infection is the lack of commitment to the procedures for imposing a curfew, whether total or partial, and the continued indifference by a large number of citizens about the seriousness of the epidemic, and that is the lack of adherence to health and preventive guidelines by the competent authorities, and to prevent Gatherings, holding events, solace councils, family visits and frequenting crowded places ».

Al-Kaabi called on the competent authorities to “hold violators of the prohibitions laws accountable, and intensify field epidemiological surveys, especially in the affected areas, as well as the necessity to coordinate with the security forces to start the regional quarantine process.” And calls are escalating in Iraq to implement a broad ban to control the spread of the virus in the country, and as of the day before yesterday, the total number of cases in the country reached 2913 cases, including 112 deaths and 1903 cases of recovery.

Al-Kaabi called on the relevant authorities to hold violators of the ban laws to account.
