From morning to evening, many walkers came to take advantage of the reopening of La Baule beach, after two months of confinement. Despite some untimely picnics, since they were prohibited, sanitary measures were generally respected.

REPORTAGE

The return of the feet in the sand, and the sun as a bonus. Closed for two months due to confinement, the beaches of Pornichet and La Baule, in Loire-Atlantique, are again accessible to the public since this Wednesday. So inevitably, the lucky ones who live in the department, and less than 100 kilometers away, gave themselves to their heart by strolling throughout the day.

"We were barely allowed to go see her"

"We barely had the right to go see it, so it's great to be able to walk around and feel the sand under your feet again", rejoices at the microphone of Europe 1 Alexandra, in full stroll on La Baule beach. A little further, Jacques, retired, does the same with his wife. And for this couple this moment is all the more appreciated as it lives "in front" of the beach. So he had to be content to watch her "from the terrace". A kind of tantalizing little version of confinement.

A little pleasure that delighted adults, but also children. "I soaked my feet," says Arsène. "It has been a long time since I saw the sea, and I am also happy to see the sand again."

Some hiccups in compliance with the instructions

But this much appreciated reopening is obviously accompanied by conditions: "no static tan", warned on Tuesday the mayor of La Baule, Yves Métaireau, at the microphone of Europe 1. A ban which also concerns picnics, but obviously not everyone received the instructions well. "When we settled down, it is true that we wondered if it was authorized, because there is little to do," admit Amélie and Rémi, cooler buried in the sand.

A beach monitored night and day

However, the posters remind the rules at each entrance to the beach, and police patrols are planned to ensure that they are respected, especially on weekends. As for the night closure decided by the mayor, between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m., the city even called on a security company. But regulars will not be taken aback, since this measure is already in place "every summer".
