The “Ambassadors of Safety” initiative of the General Department of Human Rights in Dubai Police launched a campaign entitled: “Betty Aman Lee”, with the aim of safe use of the Internet and social media by children, while they are at home, in light of the precautionary measures aimed at preventing the spread of a virus Corona, and how to communicate with the police, if they are exposed to violence, abuse, attacks, or sexual harassment.

The Director of the General Department of Human Rights, Brigadier Mohammed Al-Murr, said that the campaign comes within the framework of the Dubai Police’s general leadership’s keenness to spread awareness of the safe use of the Internet and social media, by children and students, while they are in their homes, which contributes to protecting them from any type of crime e.

He added that the campaign aims to raise awareness of how children communicate with the Department of Women and Children Protection in the Dubai Police General Command, if they are exposed to violence, abuse, attacks or sexual harassment, pointing out that targeted messages will arrive via electronic publications on Dubai police accounts through social media.

For her part, the head of the Awareness and Education Department of the General Department for Human Rights, Fatima Al-Balushi, said that the campaign aims to educate parents about the need to ensure that children and children are followed through, during the use of social media, by urging them to use electronic devices in an open environment.

She added that it is necessary for parents to strive to urge their children to express themselves properly on social media, not to talk to strangers, and not to give them personal data that may lead to blackmail or harm them.
