It is noted that specialists considered the issue of the condition of surface water bodies and forecast indicators of the availability of surface water resources for the population and sectors of the Ukrainian economy during 2020.
“The last five years have been low-water, and there is a likelihood of a water shortage in the basins of some rivers that have significant anthropogenic pressure,” the NSDC said.
According to the Secretary of the Ukrainian Security Council, Oleksiy Danilov, “the likelihood of water shortage will require optimization of the use of water resources and economical water consumption.”
He also stated the importance of a complete inventory of drinking-water-quality groundwater sources and artesian wells to be used in water supply systems.
