The new novel by Italian writer Elena Ferrante, "The deceitful life of adults", will be adapted into a television series, Netflix announced on Tuesday, while the publication of the translation of the book is not expected before September.
The saga "The Prodigious Friend" (4 volumes), which made Elena Ferrante famous, has itself already been adapted into series by the American chain HBO, in co-production with the Italian public network Rai.
At the end of April, the American cable channel ordered a third season of "My Brilliant Friend", the American title of this epic which has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.
"The deceitful life of adults" ("La Vita bugiarda degli adulti") tells the story of Giovanna, the heroine, from childhood to adolescence during the 90s, with the city of Naples as the backdrop.
Netflix hints that the series will be shot in Italy, in the original language of the book.
The project will be done in collaboration with the Italian production company Fandango, from producer Domenico Procacci, who has already worked on the adaptation of "The Prodigious Friend" on television.
The book "The Misleading Life of Adults" was released in early November in Italian and is due to be published in 25 languages on September 1, according to the Netflix press release.
Despite the success of her saga "The Prodigious Friend", whose four books were published between 2011 and 2014 in Italy, the writer Elena Ferrante has never been revealed publicly and remains hidden behind an assumed name.
The track considered most serious, brought to light by the Italian journalist Claudio Gatti, leads to the Roman translator Anita Raja.
The thesis was neither confirmed nor denied by the Italian editor of Elena Ferrante, Edizioni E / O.
