"The mask analyzed does not meet the minimum marking and information requirements required in the standards for which it claims compliance." That is the conclusion reached by the Association of Personal Protective Equipment Companies (ASEPAL) in a report on the masks that the Community of Madrid is distributing in pharmacies.

Some masks that, according to this association, have up to 19 failures and do not comply with Regulation 2016/425 of the European Union (EU). That is the summary of a technical document that this body has prepared after analyzing the documentation delivered together with this protective element and the marking of both the packaging and the mask itself, reports Europa Press.

Since last Monday, the pharmacies of the Community of Madrid have distributed more than one and a half million of these masks to residents of the region who could request theirs by going with their health card.

According to ASEPAL, "the appropriate class" of these masks is not indicated on the packaging, therefore it cannot be determined that they are FFP2 nor do they have "the 'R' indication", which identifies a mask that can be reusable. " of the characteristics that the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, had pointed out when announcing the distribution of the same.

The manufacturer of these masks, the Chinese company Wenzhou Haoshuo Home Textile, included the CE mark, which means to comply with European regulations. A certificate that, according to Maldita.es , would be false. In addition, the website of this company has disappeared from the Ali Babá trading platform.

For its part, the Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid has stated this Wednesday that it is waiting to receive the results of two laboratory tests at the request of the manufacturer to test the distributed masks. Europa Press reports. "The manufacturer has requested two organizations to proceed to the evaluation of the masks in laboratory tests , in order to comply with the provisions of the current legal regulations for CE marking," indicate Health sources.

Meanwhile, the pharmacies in the capital have stopped distributing this protective element to children under the age of four because a letter from the General Directorate of Public Health indicates that it is not "recommended" and can only be delivered to that part of the population born before May 13, 2016.
