This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova.

“Letters have been prepared by the editors of FT and NYT demanding a refutation of the published misinformation,” Interfax quoted her as saying.

Zakharova said that on May 14 letters will be handed to the chief editors of these newspapers through Russian embassies in the United States and Great Britain.

According to TASS, Russia will also turn to the UN Secretary General and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media in connection with media reports about allegedly underestimation of mortality data from COVID-19 in Russia.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that articles by Western publications on coronavirus in Russia are “a clumsy, biased attempt to shift attention from internal turmoil to another sensational anti-Russian fake.”

The Moscow Department of Health has denied data on the understatement of coronavirus mortality statistics in the capital that appeared in the media.
