SVT News Skåne has previously reported on Burlöv Municipality's unwillingness to share information about possible ongoing spread of infection in the municipality's elderly housing.

Staff at the accommodation together with relatives have been worried that they themselves or their relatives will be infected.

But as of Wednesday, the municipality now reports the number of infected people on its website.

"Is a small municipality"

According to Lars-Åke Ståhl, the Deputy Director, previously no information has been given about possible ongoing spread of infection with reference to patient confidentiality.

- We are a small municipality with few elderly residents and then we can not give out any information as it can easily become too pointless, says Lars-Åke Ståhl.

Although figures on the number of infected per elderly residents together with the number of deceased persons can now be read on the municipality's website, he does not mean that the municipality has changed its attitude to the issue.

- The old position still remains, but now we are unfortunately in the situation that there are so many infected that we do not risk to pinpoint individuals. It is regrettable that the spread of infection has been present in our homes, but we continue to struggle to remove it, says Lars-Åke Ståhl.
