Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey sent an email to employees on Tuesday telling them that he would be allowed to work from home permanently even after the Corona epidemic ended, except for some jobs that required physical presence, such as server maintenance, where they would require staff to come.

The new Twitter policy comes as companies across the country struggle to adapt to precautionary measures and implement the principles of social divergence.

"We were thinking carefully about how we dealt with this situation, as we were one of the first companies to move to a home business model," a Twitter spokesman told BuzzFeed News. "We will continue to do so, and we will continue to place the safety of our people and our societies first."

"Opening the offices will be our decision, but the decision to return our employees will be theirs," the spokesman added.

Twitter has encouraged its employees to start working from home since early March, as the Coruna virus began spreading across the United States, and many other technology companies have done the same, including Microsoft, Google and Amazon.

For its part, Google has told its employees that the vast majority of them will work from home until 2021 although some will return in early summer, and Facebook will likewise begin to reopen offices after the weekend on July 4, but it will allow employees who are able to work From home so until next year.

Jennifer Christie, director of human resources at Twitter, told BZFED that the company "will probably not be the same" in its business structure, adding that "people who were reluctant to work remotely will find that they are developing in this way."

"The managers who did not think they could manage the remote teams will have a different point of view, I think we will not return."

Jack Dorsey had announced the company's intention to act in a "distributed" manner before the virus appeared, but the epidemic forced the company to accelerate the move.

Dorsey said in his email that Twitter is unlikely to open its offices before September, and business trips will be canceled until then as well, with very few exceptions.

The company will also cancel all special events for the rest of the year, and it will reassess its 2021 plan later this year, and finally, Twitter has raised household work clothes allowances to $ 1,000 for all employees.
