In addition to the seizures made by the police during the operations carried out during Rimfrost, Commanding Officer Stefan Sintéus believes that the seizures have other benefits. One of them is that criminals get rid of drugs, for example, to avoid being found by the police.

During Operation Hagelstorm in February, the levels of drugs in Malmö's sewage were therefore measured.

- We have worked on something that we tested based on an English method, to measure what it looks like in our wastewater when we run our efforts. During Operation Hagelstorm, we had a particular focus on pumping stations here in Malmö where we can see what it looks like before, during and after the intervention when we informed that we will have an intervention, says Stefan Sintéus.

"One way for us to limit drug supply"

The measurements showed very accurately that a lot of drugs were flushed down during the operation.

Something Stefan Sintéus sees as a way to get drugs off the street.

- We can see that one way for us to limit the supply of drugs is to realize when we tell about our efforts, it is washed down quite frequently with drugs in our sewerage systems, he says about the results of the measurements.
