American star Serena Williams said she was "really looking forward to coming back to the tennis courts" once the sanitary conditions linked to the coronavirus allow it, Tuesday during a live on Instagram with her older sister Venus.

"This is what I do best. I love to play so much," said the 23-time Grand Slam winner.

The tennis season is suspended until at least mid-July due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused the cancellation of Wimbledon, and for the first time since World War II, and the postponement of Roland Garros in the fall.

Serena Williams said she saw the forced break as "a necessary evil". "I felt like my body needed it, even if I didn't want it. Now I feel better than ever, more relaxed, more fit. I can go out and play real tennis," said the 38-year-old player.

Her older sister Venus, seven-time Grand Slam winner, took the opportunity to post training sessions on Instagram eight weeks ago. And this week, she invited Serena, "the greatest tennis player to ever exist - my little sister" to participate in a yoga-inspired stretching session.

According to Serena, these exercises, lasting about half an hour, served as a warm-up, even if they were "a little intense".
