After walking through the ICU ward, a couple of overseas Chinese working in Serbia, Nis, was cured and discharged. In mid-April, the two of them were admitted to the intensive care unit of a local hospital due to the aggravation of new coronary pneumonia. At the most helpless moment, Bo Xiuhua, the director of the Serbian Chinese Traditional Chinese Medicine Center in Belgrade, contacted them and became their warmest "family" in a foreign country.

"The other party heard my voice and cried all the time and couldn't speak." Bo Xiuhua introduced that on April 14, she learned about the couple's situation and immediately got in touch to ask about the situation. At that time, the husband Zhang Mou of the couple had a high fever and had difficulty breathing, and his wife Xia Mou was also in serious condition. However, the two came to Serbia for only one year, did not speak the local language and had no other relatives to take care of, and faced many difficulties in the hospital.

"I am far away from the motherland and suffer from serious illnesses. I understand their helplessness. As a compatriot, I can't just stand by and watch." Bo Xiuhua told all of his communication methods to the other side, comforting them for treatment at ease.

After questioning, the couple had diarrhea symptoms at that time, but because Serbia is used to drinking cold water, they can only drink tap water in the hospital. Bo Xiuhua talked to the husband and wife of the couple and asked him to find a way to send a hot water bottle to the hospital's communication room, and let the nurse help to put it beside the bed.

Because the couple did not understand the Serbian language and could not communicate with the doctor, Bo Xiuhua taught some key words remotely through WeChat. Sometimes she also talked directly with the doctor. During the treatment, the WeChat conversation between the two parties was more than 6 hours. Fortunately, the couple's treatment was very smooth, transferred from the ICU to the general ward on April 23, and was cured and discharged on the 29th.

In Bo Xiuhua's eyes, it is the unshirkable responsibility of compatriots to reach out. After the outbreak in Serbia, she exerted her professional advantages and used Chinese medicine to help overseas Chinese and local people fight the outbreak.

At the beginning of March, Bo Xiuhua and Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine organized domestic experts and scholars of Chinese medicine to establish an expert team for remote consultation of Chinese medicine in support of the fight against the epidemic in Serbia. There are more than 20 Chinese traditional medicine experts in the team, many of whom have been treating patients with new coronary pneumonia in Wuhan. The team also invited a number of Serbian respiratory experts who are fighting on the front line to join. Experts from China and Serbia often communicate online to share clinical treatment experience.

In order to allow overseas Chinese to better use Chinese medicine to prevent and control the epidemic, Bo Xiuhua also carefully prepared a remote lecture on the prevention of new coronary pneumonia by Chinese medicine. On April 14, Wang Chengxiang, the dean of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and Liang Tengxiao, associate professor of the emergency department of Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, were invited to give online lectures to introduce the protection measures to overseas Chinese and also explain the dietary balance from the perspective of Chinese medicine And the importance of maintaining a good attitude.

The lecture was welcomed by the overseas Chinese, and Bo Xiuhua had a new idea. During this time, she set out to translate the expert keynote speeches, netizen questions and expert answers of this lecture into Serbian, and planned to spread it through the Serbian mainstream media to introduce the local people's experience in the fight against the epidemic to local people.

"Chinese medicine has thousands of years of accumulation and has played an important role in this epidemic. As an overseas Chinese medicine practitioner, it is my responsibility to promote motherland medicine and make Chinese medicine benefit human health." Bo Xiuhua said. (Finish)
