From our correspondent in Dakar,

No " relaxation ", but " an adaptation  ", the word came up several times in the speech of the Head of State: " after two months of testing we must calmly adapt our strategy ".

As of this Tuesday, the curfew will therefore be reduced from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., instead of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Some religious leaders demanded the reopening of mosques in the middle of Ramadan: " there will also be the reopening of places of worship, " announced Macky Sall.

In places of worship, schools, markets, and restaurants - which may reopen -, wearing a mask will remain mandatory. For Macky Sall, you have to " keep the economy alive ". We will also have to live with the virus: “ In the best of cases, if we continue to apply the measures laid down, the Covid-19 will continue to circulate in the country until August, or even September. More than ever, the responsibility of each and every one of us is engaged, "he warns.

Another announcement: the bodies of Senegalese who died from Covid-19 abroad may be repatriated. The Supreme Court had however validated last week the ban for health reasons.

In a press release, the bishops of the Catholic Church indicate that the suspension of masses and public celebrations remains in effect for the time being.

The country recorded 19 deaths and 1886 cases declared positive.
