As the regulator indicated on his Facebook page, the corresponding decision is due to the fact that the NBU did not receive notification of a change of ownership in the parent organization.

“On April 23, 2020, the National Bank of Ukraine became aware of an agreement between the Central Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Finance of Russia on the sale of 50% + one share of Sberbank. Accordingly, the Sberbank’s subsidiary bank in Ukraine has also changed its ultimate owner, ”the statement said.

The NBU believes that this was a violation of Ukrainian law, since the new owner had to notify the regulator of his intention to acquire a bank in three months.

Earlier, the Russian government and the Central Bank signed a shareholder agreement on Sberbank, the regulator transferred the last share of the bank to the Cabinet.
