A functional study is the basis for continued planning of a travel center and has now been consulted. Authorities, political committees, stakeholders and the public have come to think. Skellefteå Museum Museum questions the politicians' earlier orientation decision to demolish or relocate the particularly culturally historically valuable Stationshuset.

- It is the museum's opinion that the continued planning should be carried out with the aim that the Stationshuset is preserved as Stationsgatan's foundation motif towards the north, writes Rune Wästerby.

Instead, according to the museum, the town should reconnect to history and make the old railway park part of a new railway park in the Orion block north.

The policy is firmly based on previous decisions

But when the politicians in the municipal council's working committees today took a stand, they are stuck with the previous direction.

- The future versus history is hard to come by, but it is also difficult to move the railway itself. No definite political decision has yet been made about the station building, and we have time to come back to this, says Councilor Lorents Burman (S).

According to him, an alternative is (before demolition) that the building be sold and moved.

Other comments that emerged during the consultation are concerns that there will be too few parking spaces for both bicycles and cars. Today, 600 bicycle parking spaces and a car park with 300 car parking spaces are planned, but the municipal management office is open to the need for spare areas and more car parks.
