Eight civilians were killed and several others injured, Tuesday, May 12, in the attack on a hospital in Kabul, where the NGO Doctors without Borders (MSF) manages a maternity, we learned from an official of the Afghan Interior Ministry.

Few elements have filtered at this stage on the perpetrators of this attack. The Taliban have declared that they are not responsible for it.

According to two sources close to the security services, explosions were heard on the site.

Dasht-e-Barchi hospital, located in one of the poorest areas of the Afghan capital, has around 100 beds, according to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.

When asked, the NGO MSF did not respond immediately.

Kabul has been rocked in recent months by a series of attacks claimed by the Islamic State organization. Afghan security forces arrested three senior officials of the jihadist group in South Asia on Monday, including the movement's regional leader, Abu Omar Khorasani.
