According to reports, the troops dispatched this time consist of about 200 self-defense members. The "Fog Rain" will succeed the first batch of frigates "Gaobo" deployed in February, the main task is to collect intelligence and ensure the safety of ships related to Japan.

In view of the expansion of the new crown epidemic, the frigate will carry out nucleic acid tests on all the members of the ship after leaving the port, and will stay in the offshore waters of Japan for about two weeks, and then go to the Middle East after confirming that no personnel are infected.

According to reports, when the Japanese Self-Defense Forces dispatched members overseas, the family members and guests of the team would see off when the ship left the port. However, in order to avoid contact, only the self-defense members were sent off this time, and the flower-giving process was also cancelled. The "Fog Rain" is scheduled to arrive in the local waters after June and begin its mission.

On December 27, 2019, the Japanese Cabinet decided to send the Self-Defense Forces to the Middle East waters to carry out the tasks of intelligence collection and protection of Japanese-related ships. Among them, the maritime self-defense force frigate "Gaobo" set sail from Yokosuka on February 2, 2020.
