The Iranian navy said today (11th) that one frigate was shot by another ship and was killed by 15 crew members and 15 others were injured while training near Oman Bay in the northern Arabian Sea at dawn.

According to the Iranian Navy, the frigate Jamaran, its frigate, fired a fleet of fleet 'Nur' into the target shortly after the support frigate Konarak was installed.

The Iranian navy said the missile did not fly to the target and was hit by a nearby lake of Konarak. "The distance between the model target and the lake of Konarak was not far enough," he said.

Iranian state broadcaster reported that "it was an accident by mistake" and "Navy is investigating the circumstances of the accident."

The 47-meter-long Konarak is a Dutch old warship deployed to the Iranian Navy in 1988, and the Jamaran is the first frigate built by Iran 11 years ago.

The accident occurred in Oman, near the port of Jasque, 1,270 km southeast of Tehran, and the Iranian Navy has regularly trained in Oman, a sensitive area leading to the Hormuz Strait.
