During May 7-9, inspectors visited 42 businesses in Malmö, seven of which were follow-ups of shortcomings from last weekend. An operation had not adequately addressed its deficiencies since the last inspection but made new improvements to the control.

A total of eleven companies did not meet the safety requirements regarding the risk of transmission of coronavirus. These activities will therefore be re-checked by the environmental management.

Repeated shortcomings

"It is important that we all continue to follow the recommendations of the Public Health Authority to keep distance," says Arvid Nordland, Head of Unit at the Food Control Department in Malmö City.

A couple of businesses at Lilla Torg, which previously had deficiencies, had deficiencies again. The shortcomings were mainly about congestion in the queues as there were more visitors than available places. The infection control physician in Region Skåne will be informed of this problem.

Even crowded in stores

The overall impression from the inspectors is that the vast majority of operators do what they can to reduce congestion and create safe distances between guests. However, the environmental administration noted that there were problems with queues later in the evening.

There have also been about ten complaints between April 17 and May 3 concerning congestion in grocery stores.

- We see that many businesses have taken good measures to counteract congestion. Some still need to do more and now it is also important for the public to help reach the whole way, says Arvid Nordland, unit manager at the Environmental Management in Malmö city, says unit manager Arvid Nordland.
