The coronavirus epidemic has caused the death of 263 people in the last 24 hours in France, again sharply increasing after several days of record decline, according to the report published Monday May 11 by the Directorate General of Health on the first evening of deconfinement of the population.

In total, since March 1, at least 26,643 deaths have been recorded, including 16,820 in hospitals and 9,823 in nursing homes and other medico-social establishments, announced Monday the Ministry of Health. This assessment is up compared to Sunday which counted 70 deaths, the weakest assessment since March 17.  

The pressure on hospital emergency services continues to decrease: the total number of serious cases in intensive care reaches 2,712, 64 less than the previous day.
