Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education, returned to the microphone of Europe 1 on the start of the school year in this period of deconfinement. Asked about the discovery of an outbreak of coronavirus contamination in a college in Vienna, he said that we must "be very careful", but that this case does not reflect the national situation.

In Vienna, a cluster appeared in a college where professionals had gathered to prepare for the start of the new school year. Four members of the teaching team tested positive for the coronavirus. The Departmental Council announced a postponement to May 27 of the recovery, originally scheduled for May 18. Invited to the Europe 1 morning show, Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education and Youth, reacted to this situation, still showing confidence for the start of the school year everywhere in France.

"There will be no reopening until there is clarification"

"As soon as there is a home of this type, it is the health authorities who are on the front line to make the analyzes," said the Minister of National Education. While waiting for the results, "the measures which are provided for in the health protocol are taken (...) There will be no reopening as long as there is no clarification", assures Jean-Michel Blanquer at microphone from Europe 1. 

This situation already occurred just before the confinement, indicates the tenant of 110 rue de Grenelle. "When there was a case, all of the 'contact persons' were tested and this could lead to the closure of a class or even an establishment depending on the analysis of the health authorities," he explains. .

"We took in 30,000 children of caregivers during the confinement period (...) and we did not note any particular problems"

But Jean-Michel Blanquer does not fear that other epidemic foci will start in schools with the start of the school year. "We welcomed 30,000 children of caregivers during the confinement period," said the Minister of National Education. "We were never forced to close establishments because of this during this period and we did not note any particular problems," he said.

"Obviously, we must be very careful and that's what we do," said Jean-Michel Blanquer, highlighting the "strict health protocol" that is used. "But problems of this type will remain extremely minority, and will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis," he explains. "Out of the thousands of schools in France, I think it will remain an extremely minority," concludes the Minister of National Education at the microphone of Europe 1.
