According to reports, the "Procuratorate Law" amendment proposes to raise the retirement age of prosecutors to 65 years by stages. If approved by the Japanese Cabinet, the retirement age can be extended up to 3 years. At present, the Cabinet Committee of the House of Representatives of Japan is considering amendments.

In response, many well-known personalities including stage director Aya Miyamoto and actor Jing Puxin have protested the amendment on Twitter. As of the afternoon of May 10, there have been more than 3.8 million posts on social media using the label "Protest against the Amendment of the Procuratorate Act", and the protests have continued to rise.

In view of this, the heads of the four opposition parties, including the Constitutional Democratic Party and the National Democratic Party, also delivered a video speech on the evening of the 10th local time. Among them, the representative of the Constitutional Democratic Party, Yukio Nono, said, "If the current regime can exert an influence on the personnel issues of the prosecution department, it will inevitably destroy constitutionalism" and expressed its opposition to the amendment.

The Japanese government and the ruling party intend to pass amendments in the House of Representatives this week and establish them in this Congress.
