Hillevi Sandström, who runs Niemisel's life, estimates that her sales have increased by about 30 percent. The same signals also come from several other country traders. In the wake of the pandemic, more and more customers are choosing to shop locally in smaller stores.

- We who are a bit away from the city probably make a profit on this, says Hillevi Sandström.

Customers order their food

She meets people who mine a little to go into the cities and the big shops for fear of being infected by the corona virus. And not everyone comes to the store. Many call in their order and then deliver it to the customers.

- Then there are those who do not want to go into the store but who call in their order. Then we pack and show the bags outside the store. Then people pay in slightly different ways than usual, she says.

"Great"

Kicki Nyström and Bo Eriksson live in Luleå but have their summer house in the village of Degerselet. They shop in Niemisel as often as they can.

- It is great that more land dealers get their support from people. It is nice to shop here too, says Kicki Nyström.

More exits

In terms of turnover, Hillevi Sandström is now where she usually is during the time of year when all holidaymakers and tourists come to the resort.

- There are also many who have not bought here before, who now choose to shop here. And it feels good, she says.

The turnout has doubled, which also leads to more work. Hillevi Sandström also has a relatively large geographical area that she must reach.

- We have to run a little more and drive a little more. Then we also get more goods that have to be handled so that also means more jobs. Picking up, packing and shipping the orders also takes time.
