At Torshälla GK north of Eskilstuna, it is important for golfers to have the foresight to get the start time you want. There is always fierce competition for the times like this at the beginning of the season, but this year the pressure is greater than ever before.

The two big clubs Nyköping GK and Katrineholms GK experience the same rush.

But despite this, tough economic times also prevail for the golf clubs.

Green fee guests are missing

For the most part, members of the courts move around the course, and through their membership fees, they are entitled to free play. The income-generating green fee guests, who pay for each individual round, shine with their absence.

Combined with lost sponsorship revenue, it will be a double financial blow to the clubs, whose expenses are still the same.

- We have lost SEK 700,000 so far this year, says Torgny Larsson, golf manager at Torshälla.

- At the same time, we are very happy and grateful for our members playing.

"No layoffs yet"

In Nyköping you are investing together with the golf course on the rental of cottages, and there have been a lot of cancellations. The golf club has ten full-time employees.

- It has financial consequences. So far, this has not meant any short-term permits, but of course we are thinking about how the development will be and act accordingly, says Nyköping GK's chairman Holger Namér.
