• Direct: last minute coronavirus

Passengers on a flight between Madrid and Gran Canaria have protested this Sunday on social networks about the distance between the seats of the plane and the number of people traveling on board.

"Where is the safety distance? The plane is almost completely full and there is not even a separation seat between passengers. This is a shame," they have denounced on social networks through images and videos in which the rest can be seen of travelers complaining about the situation.

Iberia Express sources have explained to Europa Press that they comply with the guidelines set out in the state of alarm decree and have highlighted that they have an action plan against the coronavirus that guarantees the safety of their passengers.

According to the company, the planes include an air system that allows them to be renewed every two and three minutes - a HEPA filter - with "99.9% efficiency" against viruses and bacteria, so the risk of contagion is low. In addition, it has reinforced disinfection and daily cleaning and has eliminated services such as catering.

In this sense, they have pointed out that the guidelines for the state of alarm tells operators that "they must seek maximum separation but do not cite specific restrictions" and that, during the low occupancy of flights due to limited mobility, they have offered to the clients the maximum separation through the free allocation of the seat, prioritizing the window and the aisle, and the use of face masks, which will be mandatory from Monday.
